Barbra Streisand inks helming deal
Aldamisa to produce project
By Robert Mitchell - Variety.com
LONDON -- Barbra Streisand has signed a helming deal with production and sales company Aldamisa International.
The deal will see Streisand take up helming duties for the first time since 1996's "The Mirror Has Two Faces," in which she co-starred with Jeff Bridges.
"We are thrilled to provide underwriting for a filmmaker of (Streisand's) vision, stature and accomplishment," said Nadine de Barros, president of international sales and acquisitions at Aldamisa.
No details are yet available, with Streisand contemplating several projects. The film will be financed by Mark Manuel's Kilburn Media and produced by de Barros and Aldamisa co-chairman Sergei Bespalov.
Streisand recently appeared in Paramount comedy "The Guilt Trip," alongside Seth Rogen. The film marked her first lead acting role since "The Mirror Has Two Faces." She made her helming debut with 1983's "Yentl" and also handled 1991's "The Prince of Tides."
